The existing structure in Harare as an old warehouse with concrete columns and roof trusses. These were left in place and a new light weight steel structure consisting of columns, roof trusses and purlins was built around the existing structure. New foundations were installed to carry the additional load. The existing roof was removed and a light weight extruded composite slab was installed as a roof deck to allow for future additions. 

The design team was based in Knysna, and a lot of the internal joinery, finishes, fittings and equipment were sourced in Knysna and South Africa. Transportation and general logistics added to the project’s complexity. Planning and communication with the building team was vital to finish this project successfully.
